Liver Function Panel

A Liver Panel blood test, also known as liver function tests (LFTs), measures a set of blood markers that help assess the health and function of the liver. This test provides valuable information for diagnosing, evaluating, and monitoring liver diseases, as well as determining the effects of medications or other medical conditions on liver health.A routine liver panel typically includes:

Alanine aminotransferase (ALT): An enzyme primarily found in the liver; elevated levels can indicate liver damage.

Aspartate aminotransferase (AST): An enzyme present in the liver and other organs; high levels may signal liver injury.

Alkaline phosphatase (ALP): An enzyme found in the liver, bones, and other tissues; high levels may suggest bile duct problems or bone disease.

Bilirubin: A yellow waste product from red blood cell breakdown; high levels may indicate issues with liver processing or bile excretion.

Albumin: The main protein made by the liver; low levels can point to liver or kidney dysfunction.

Test Uses
